Star Burst Math Exploration Bag

We have a bag in our class. It is our FAVORITE bag. It is the Math Bag. There is a book inside the bag. Our teacher puts something in the bag, and she writes a Math Exploration Question for us to solve using the contents of the bag.
Before we can start, we each squeeze the bag 3 times, feeling the contents. Then we raise our hands to ask questions about what could be in the bag. We have to ask GOOD QUESTIONS ... like:

"Can you play with it?"
"Is it square?"
"Is it blue?"
"Can you write with it?"
"Does it make a sound?"
"Does it taste good or bad?"

"Does it smell like strawberries?"

Then we guess what it is, and we put it on the Exploration Mat. We read the question and we plan how to solve the question(s).

Mrs. Probert says we will each have a turn to take the bag home and put something in the bag to explore. We will bring the bag back with our question written inside the book. We will help our friends explore the contents of the bag to solve the question or math problem.

We can't wait for our turn!
